A Tanzanian Story of Dance

In late 2020, I watched a YouTube of the African Kids and their version of Master KG and Nomcebo’s song, Jerusalema. I was so struck by their energy and vitality, that I had to paint them.

We connected on Instagram, and they gave me permission to paint a scene from the video. Through our conversations, I learnt that the crew wanted to produce a documentary about how dance had saved many of the crew from a life on the streets. The biggest hurdle for them was a lack of equipment to produce a good quality doccie.

This initiative is to help the African Kids tell their story of dance, and 70% of proceeds from the sale of the prints, will go to a camera fund.

If you’re a fan of the African Kids, or simply a fan of dance, why not buy a print and be part of their journey to document how dance changed their lives?
