Kasiology I [Square]

I’ve been inspired by fellow creative @seemore_possibilities and his vision for a new township culture.

“Kasiologist emanates from the word “Kasi” and Kasi from Lokasie “Afrikaans”. The full Afrikaans word can be associated with apartheid. Kasi has been adopted by many Black African Communities, in fact Kasi word is being loved by many because it can be associated with the strength, survival and thick skin.

Within iKasi, there is another tradition, culture and sub-culture called is’Pansula. is’Pansula can be associated with the highly energetic dance from the Township.

The culture of is’Pansula grew around the 1950’s where Black African males would dress up nicely: “tucked in nicely”. Most of them were Gentlemen, principled but somewhere along the way they lost it.”
